Influencer trends that we couldn’t ignore

Social media trends have taken a whole new meaning in the last couple of months. Tik-tok challenges and trends have taken over the influencer space. And, everyone tries to keep up and deliver for the latest trend. In India, all these trends and some new ones are happening on Instagram Reels.

Every few days, there is a new trend and a host of different interpretations of it by the influencers. Keeping up with the trends is definitely a challenge for them. But it sure has provided us with entertaining content to look forward to.

Here are some of the trends that we loved.

This trend started in January on Tik-Tok as a body positivity movement but soon took on a life of its own. It begins with the Paul Anka song, Put your head on my shoulder and then transitions into Streets by Doja Cat. The challenge has people confidently showing off their body during the transition where only their silhouette is visible due to a red filter.

Soon, many influencers had their own unique take for this challenge. Like stand-up comedian Sumukhi Suresh’s comical spin for it and Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh’s and Anirudh Sharma’s quirky duet with an anti-climatic ending.

This trend started off as transformation montage where people showcased their transformation, including, but not limited to physical appearance and career progression. The audio has an AI like voice announcing the phrase – How did I go from this to this, and then Not Your Barbie Girl by Ava Max plays during the transformation.

Sameera Reddy

But like in all influencer trends, influencers found ways to add their twists with some like Sameera Reddy making it about being comfortable in one’s own skin.

This is a homegrown trend that is still quite popular. It started during Tamil actor Vijay’s movie Master’s promotions with different influencers performing the hook-step of the movie’s song – Vathi Coming.

Genelia Deshmukh

Many Hindi tele-soap stars and Bollywood stars joined the trend. Quite recently, we even saw cricketer Ashwin’s version of it on IPL team, Delhi Capital’s Instagram handle.

We love these trends and absolutely cannot ignore them. What’s your favourite Reel trend? Let us know in the comments below.
